Orange County Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation and Play Every Day invite you to a local celebration of National Public Lands Day at Fairview Park.  National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy. Join volunteers of all ages in maintaining trails, planting trees, and picking up litter.

The run will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2011, start time 9am. 

The run start and finish line are on the grounds of the Burwell School, 319 N. Churton St., Hillsborough. The course runs participants through beautiful, historic downtown Hillsborough, past numerous historic sites, homes, and markers.

Colonial Kids Day if the featured event for September's Family Fun Day. The Burwell School Historic Site, the Orange County Historical Museum and the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough will be offering a variety of activities such as colonial games, a lemonade party, quill writing, butter churning, and more.   This event, which is free to the public, will be held at the Burwell School Historic Site, located at 319 N. Churton Street, from 12:00-3:00pm.

(Hillsborough, NC)---As the summer comes to a close and the school year begins, Family Fun Days are coming to an end. September 10^th is the last day in our series of events for 2011.  Family Fun Days will resume in June of 2012.

The White City Book Launch Party at the Eno River Farmers Market Pavilion (East Margaret Lane). 

Enjoy live music from Red Rover, performances from young local actors, readings from the new book, Doc Leonard's medicine show routine, refreshments, giveaways, and lots of fun for the whole family!  Purple Crow will be selling books and you can get your copy signed.

The 3^rd Annual Sustainable Living and Natural Health Fair in Hillsborough is back this year, and proves to be bigger, better, and more exciting!  Mark your calendars, the Fair will be on Saturday, September 24th, 2011 from 11a - 6p at New Goloka Temple 1032 Dimmocks Mill Road, Hillsborough, NC 27278. 

The event will start with a massive “freecycle”, where you can bring your lightly used treasures, so others might have a chance to take them home to use.
