Hillsborough is famous not only for its Revolutionary War past, but for its Civil War past as well.

Many sites around town have their own Civil War significance and fascinating stories to tell. The Alexander Dickson House/Orange County Visitors Center is one such site.  In April of 1865 Generals Wade Hampton and Joseph Johnston met at the home to discuss their terms of surrender before meeting with William T. Sherman just a few miles down the road at Bennett Place.
