Tickets for the 4thAnnual “Home for the Holidays” are now on sale at the Orange County Historical Museum. One of the “Five Must-Do Events for Fall 2012,” as noted in Chapel Hill magazine, this evening of popular storytelling brings together some of North Carolina’s most renowned writers sharing favorite holiday stories.
“Home for the Holidays” will take place on Saturday, November 24 at 7:30PM at Leland Little’s Auction Gallery. The evening will begin with a wine and cheese reception at 7:30PM and continue with storytelling at 8:00PM.
This year’s line-up includes:
· Michael Malone, noted novelist and humorist, who will be Master of Ceremonies and storyteller. Malone’s introduction will be done by Frances Mayes, author of Under the Tuscan Sun.
· Elizabeth Spencer, noted author and faculty member at UNC-CH. Her introduction will be by Hodding Carter III, renowned journalist, professor, and presidential press secretary.
· Tom Rankin, head of Documentary Studies at Duke. His introduction will be by Jill McCorkle, his wife, a fantastic and funny novelist who presented a story last year.
· Alan Shapiro, noted poet and writer from Chapel Hill. His introduction will be done by Callie Warner, his wife, who is a singer and artist. She will provide music during intermission.
Purple Crow Books will be at the event with the authors’ books available for purchase. DVDs of “Home for the Holidays” can be pre-ordered at the event.
Ticket prices are $23.00 if purchased before November 24thby visiting or calling the Museum and $25.00 at the door, space permitting. Seating is limited. All proceeds from this popular holiday event benefit the Orange County Historical Museum.
